In 2017, there’s no such thing as just marketing. There’s influencer marketing, digital marketing, online marketing, and the list goes on. One of the newest focuses within the marketing industry, however, is content marketing; a valuable mix of relevant yet targeted content. In other words, specific content that will drive towards a profitable action for you.
Here, we’ll take a look at a few content marketing tips that will help you succeed in your new marketing ventures.
Infographics
With the constant development of digital technology across the globe, online resources have become huge for businesses. One way to easily get your message across is to use some sort of media to make it more consumable and shareable. A popular iteration of this comes in the form of an infographic. These are visual representations of data or information that can be shared and reshared easily on any social media platform. An example can be seen below.
Consistent Content
Because your brand will be taking a more targeted approach with its content, you’ll need to ensure that your brand voice is consistent across all channels you’re working with. Giving your content a persona and a distinct theme will help you to keep that content targeted as well; it will pull the consumer in because it’s engaging and recognizable. And, as always, recognizable and relatable content is the most valuable. Here’s a great example from SproutSocial showing how Google utilizes their playful branding voice on a consistent basis. Even when wishing a Happy New Year, they stay in character.
Don’t Market
Yes, this is a real rule in content marketing. You don’t want to sound like you’re selling something, or forcing content on the consumer. Always have some sort of clear messaging that the consumer can take away and pass on, or that they can take away and think about to the point that they come back for more content. It can take some time to perfect this skill, but once you have it down, you’ll be a marketing wizard in disguise to your consumers. An example of some direct yet broad marketing can be seen in the below Gilt ad. Gilt doesn’t need much messaging to showcase what they can offer – a perfect example of selling without selling.
